Klungkung, Bali, 10 April 2026 — Teach First Indonesia (TFI) and the Government of Klungkung Regency officially announce the beginning of their partnership to improve access to high-quality education in Bali. Following the first partnership with Serang City, Klungkung Regency is selected as the second region for the first cohort of Teach First Indonesia Fellowship, with placements set to begin in July 2026.
Indonesia faces significant education challenges, where many children are still struggling with foundational literacy and numeracy skills. This includes Bali, one of the most developed provinces in the country. Through this partnership, Teach First Indonesia and the Government of Klungkung Regency aim to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning in classrooms that need it most.
A Nationwide Movement: Klungkung Regency Partnership Marks the Next Step in Scaling Impact Across Indonesia
Cara Riantoputra, Teach First Indonesia CEO stated, “Our mission is to build a long-term movement where every child in Indonesia, regardless of background, has access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive. Our collaboration with Klungkung Regency marks an important step toward realizing that mission where we are not only strengthening classrooms today, but also cultivating a nationwide network of leaders who will shape the future Indonesia”.
Klungkung Regency was selected as a partner following multiple assessment processes, reflecting a strong alignment in commitment to improving student learning outcomes and advancing more equitable education. Through this partnership, Teach First Indonesia Fellows will be placed in schools and communities for two years, working closely with students, teachers, parents, communities and other stakeholders to strengthen daily teaching practices while contributing to broader efforts that support continuous student growth.
“We are very excited to finally announce this partnership and welcome Teach First Indonesia Fellows to Klungkung Regency in July 2026,” said I Made Satria, Regent of Klungkung Regency. “We believe this collaboration will contribute meaningfully to improving the quality of education in our region, to ensure that every child in Klungkung has the opportunity to learn, grow, and have a better future”.
